Care to Change officially welcomes Brittany Smith to our team!
For more than a decade, Brittany has helped young children and teens who have faced challenges in their young lives find the guidance and support they need to grow into healthy adults. Brittany has always felt that God was leading her to help others, but it wasn’t until her teens that she realized the path He intended for her was to work with children too. She describes coming to Care to Change as her dream job, because her career goal was to work at a place that integrates mental health with scripture, and the Care to Change team understands that mental health also involves an body, mind and spirit.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University, went on to earn her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Louisville, and obtained certification as a TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) practitioner and educator. She appreciates Care to Change’s efforts to educate the community about responding to trauma and supporting others around them as they make their own journeys and looks forward to joining in the community’s effort at addressing the impact of trauma in schools.
Brittany previously worked at Sheltering Wings, a domestic violence shelter in Hendricks County, and spent three years helping elementary-age children as a public-school therapist. She has also worked with MLJ Adoptions, guiding families through the international adoption process. She’s a longtime volunteer youth leader at Cornerstone Christian Church and serves on Get Real Inc.’s board of directors.
Brittany’s current area of specialty includes trauma, adoption, and young adults. To schedule an appointment with Brittany, call or text 317-790-9396.
