Care to Change is serious about helping families in need. As we’ve sought feedback from community leaders, we’ve heard time and again that veterans and military families are in need of mental health services. It’s a known fact that 20 veterans take their own lives every day. The very people who provide us the freedom to do what we do are often left without the support they need to return to civilian lives.
For this reason, we’ve welcomed Jeremy Echerd to our team. Jeremy always thought he would retire after a lengthy Army career. He enlisted in early 1992 and attended Basic Training, Airborne School, and Air Assault School, where he received numerous awards and accolades. An R.O.T.C. scholarship brought him to the University of Dayton. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Psychology in 1998, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, sent to training, and deployed to Germany.
As an officer, Jeremy served two combat tours in Iraq, the first in Baghdad and the second in Mosul, earning a Bronze Star for his service.
After finishing his second tour, Jeremy and his family settled in Avon. He went on to earn his Master’s in Health Care Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and is in the final stages of earning his Master’s in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University.
Jeremy’s focus is supporting military families as they deal with issues related to suicide prevention, addictions and combat trauma.
Jeremy will complete his studies with us at Care to Change, and we’re proud to have him with us.
