As Care to Change grows, we’re building a team of professionals who share our commitment to providing research-based services built on a foundational of Biblical truth. We asked Jean to share a few words about led her to join us. This is what she shared with us.
I’ve spent the last fourteen and a half years working as an outpatient mental health therapist at St. Francis Hospital, and it has been a job that I’ve loved. I enjoy my clients and feel that I have been given an incredible opportunity to make a difference in their lives. And I love all that St. Francis stands for and am in complete agreement with their mission and values.
My decision rests in my personal calling and my faith in God, which I take very seriously. I enjoy being able to share the hope that I have through Jesus, and I believe that He holds the ultimate keys to healing. St. Francis has given me the freedom to share that with clients who want to hear it, and to discuss the blessings that come from living a life patterned after the example of Jesus.
However, it is difficult for me when those I serve do not want to discuss anything about faith. While I do not believe in forcing my belief system onto other people, I feel unfulfilled when I am unable to address what I believe to be the core issues in people’s lives.
Over two years ago, when April Bordeau told me that she planned to open a Christian counseling center here in Avon, I was excited. As she shared her vision for reaching clients who need help, using the timeless truths of Scripture, I knew there was a great need for this. I believe this is when God started working on my heart, calling me to join this new venture, and asking me to trust that He has good purposes in store for us, even though it requires a lot of faith.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for my friends and colleagues at St. Francis. I am incredibly grateful for the encouragement and support that they provided for me along the way, as I learned more about this role of being a therapist. I am passionate about what I do and I am privileged to continue this journey at Care to Change. Please come visit us and learn more about what we offer! We would love to meet you.
